Beginning January 1, 2027, you can give up to $1,700 to St. John the Evangelist Catholic School for free! Eligible donations may qualify for the new Education Freedom Tax Credit, or EFTC.
Donations will be made through the SGOs Seeds of Hope and ACE, which can support scholarships for SJE families.
With the EFTC, you can receive a federal tax credit of up to $1,700 for contributions made to Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGOs)
A tax credit reduces the amount of Federal income tax owed dollar-for-dollar (unlike a deduction, which decreases the taxable income).
Our Partner Scholarship Granting Organizations: Seeds of Hope and ACE
EFTC-eligible donations must be made through an approved Scholarship Granting Organization. Seeds of Hope and ACE are SGOs that have the ability to support scholarships for St. John the Evangelist families.
Big impact on the school, not your wallet!
Your gift will support scholarships for eligible students attending St. John the Evangelist Catholic School, helping make Catholic education more accessible for families.
Anyone owing federal taxes from ANY state can donate!
Eligible taxpayers do not have to have a child at St. John’s or be a resident of the state of Colorado to participate!
Please help spread the word about this new tax program! The grandparents in Iowa, your friend in Florida, the cousins in California can all donate to the SGO and may be eligible for the tax credit.
*Considerations to note:
Direct gifts to St. John the Evangelist Catholic School do not qualify for the federal tax credit. Gifts must be made to the SGO, who will provide the tax documents needed to make your claim.
Donors may not designate gifts for a specific student or family.
Colorado has opted into the federal program, but implementation details and guidance are still developing ahead of the anticipated 2027 rollout.
St. John the Evangelist Catholic School will continue updating this page as additional federal, state, and SGO guidance becomes available!
$1,700 is the maximum credit that can be earned each year per tax return filed.
Tax credits can reduce your tax liability to $0. Should your total tax liability be less than the amount of tax credit received, the tax credit will carry forward for 5 years.
